December 19 to December 20 - Finals Week

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to thank you all for a great semester. You guys did great. I think that everyone is better today than they were at the start of the class. You know about Canvas, Chicago Style, academic databases, and how to write a term paper. Additionally, you were able to get a general sense of the ancient history.

Next semester I am excited to build on your skills and engage in the content of modern world history. Have a great break and see you next year!

Greetings,

This week is our 9th week in the Shasta College curriculum. I am glad that many of you are getting the pace and style of the course. If by chance, you are still struggling greatly, the withdraw date is November 9th. I may be talking with certain students and families about that option. This is where you could take a W on the Shasta College transcript but still go through the content for the RSA grade.

Remember to be working on your research paper each and every week. The paper is due December 2nd, but I think it would be great to have a first rough draft before Thanksgiving!

I know we need to take some class time to discuss and review the research paper proposals. Also, you need to stay mindful of this week's due dates. Don't want you to be late with the discussion post activity.

My name is Alex Thiemann and I serve as your student's world history facilitator. This is a Dual Enrolled course with Shasta College in which they have a Shasta College Professor. Here are the three major takeaways from the evening:

  1. Have you signed up for Remind?
    1. Code - rsawo
  2. Are you following this blog?
    1. Save this webpage to stay up to date on each week's events
  3. Do you have my email contact? And have you provided your best email contact?

Being a small school, I am happy to individually support your student. Additionally, I will lean on you to encourage your student from home!

Thanks for your support,

Alex Thiemann

Hey Everyone,

Sorry I am out again. Hope you had a better Labor Day weekend then I. Also, I hope I didn't give you "the rona". This week we will begin just having weekly blog posts. This is to be in alignment with your Shasta College pacing. Any changes made intra-week will be captured on the PowerPoint.

For today, I would ask that you work on both of the "for point" assignments on Canvas. These assignments are:

  • “Why Study History”
  • Read articles, watch videos, and then do this:
  • Provide a thoughtful comment on the reading (150 word min). Complete this on September 7.
  • Finally, reply to at least two other students with thoughtful comments with a minimum of 50 words by September 9.
  • Extra Credit Assignment – How to Use InQuizitive

  • These assignments should be very easy for you to engage with. I did the InQuizitive assignment last night and it was actually really cool!
